Rear Suspension adjustment on 04 GS500

Hi,

I just bought my first motorcycle ever a few weeks ago. It is a yellow 04 GS500. The more I ride the more I love it! I came across this forum and it looks very helpful. It seems like a nice one to be a member of.

My question is: how do I adjust my rear suspension? I tried using the tool, and then I tried a screwdriver. It doesn't seem to want to budge. I dont know that I am even twisting the correct object. (I think its the silver cylinder with numbers on it.)
