Handlebar Balancer Question?

I took my bike out for a ride today. I have the handlebar balancer on the left side, but the right side is not put on the bike since I am waiting for a new one. It made the handlebar seem like it was bent when I was riding. It felt like my left hand was back further than my right hand. The bar does not seem to be bent at all after a thorough inspection. Would this do that just because the balancer is not on the right side?

You mean the bar end weight, right ?

If so, it's just your mind (and vibrations) playing tricks on you.

Or the bike has been dropped/crashed and the bars are bent.

Or your shoulders are not perfectly aligned (not unusual).

Or you have scoliosis, it's all about alignment.

The bike did recently fall over in a parking lot, hence why the balancer is not on the bike. :o I was walking the bike so it was only dropped. Again the bars do not look visually bent. Your thoughts?

Ok I got the new balancer and I installed it yesterday. I went for a test ride to see if the handlebar still seems bent. Unfortunately they still seem slightly bent. My right arm is extended further than my left arm. So they are defineately bent, but just very slightly.

Anyone here know of a good way to fix the existing handlebar? Like bending it back. Again this is a very minor bend. ?????

Do not try to bend them its not adviced you may get it straight but it make weakin it, you may have to take the bars off to inspect them properly but even a small drop could bend them.
Once you have taken them off if they are bent you should be able to see straght away even if its a slight bend. But from what you describe its sounds like they are bent. :thumb:

Thanks for the reply. My father and I had a chance to look it over some more and we found that they are bent, but just very slightly. It seems they bent slightly forward on the right side. My dad thinks I should either ride it as is and I will get used to the way it is or replace the handlebar if it bothers me. As far as a safety issue he thinks I should be fine. Any other thoughts about this?

I'd just replace them. It's an easy procedure and a new bar shouldn't cost much more then 30 bucks. My bar was bent on my bike and I bought a dirt bike bar brand new for like 20. I did have a friend that worked at the place give me a discount though. Really, though you should probably get it fixed. If you kept them on and got used to it then if you ever decide to upgrade to another bike the straight bar is gonna throw you for a loop. You're gonna want to ride it right. I'm pretty new to this whole motorcycle thing, but that's my thoughts on the situation.
