well they dont fit right.  the 04 bars extend out a little bit further before the curve up.  this causes them to hit the top of the fork tubes.  no problem except they wont hit the bottom of the mounting brackets.  so i figured i would be smart. i had some flat rubber strips that i cut to fit under to fill the gap.  well it doesnt grip hard enough and after 50 miles or so they are noticeably lower.  they roll down.  can i drop the fork tubes down 1/4 inch?  they stick up above the plate thing about 3/8ths of an inch.

I don't know because when I was working on bikes the tubes just went up into the top triple-tree and that was it. There was a chamfer on the tubes that allowed them to go so far and stop. But if you do lower the tubes then it would be the same effect as installing 1/4 over tubes and you would probably see a wee bit more stability at speed. Then again, maybe not. I'd try it and see if it was mine...unless you find another way to mount them. Love the Baby GS, Virginia (ACU2, Little Creek), and this forum.

In stock form, from the factory, the top of the fork tubes are level with the handlebar mounting plate on top of the upper triple.
