I always take the helmet with me after I witnessed a real FUCKTARD throw their fast food garbage into someone's helmet that was locked to the side of a bike in a parking lot at the mall.  Just walked by and nonchalantly stuffed it in instead of leaving it her truck. I just had to bring this up since the thread had to do with helmets on the bike. Bebe has an uncle who owns an old Sportster. He had not ridden in a while and left it parked in the barn just about the whole summer with his helmet stashed on one of the mirrors in an upright position. Well, around September of that year he got around to riding...does the usual checks to make sure the bike is ok, fires up the bike, puts on the helmet and pulls out to go down the dirt road that meets the paved road. Just before he gets to the paved part we see him start swerving and jerking and the bike crashes off the side of the road into a gulley. We run over to him to see what's happened and he's goin' berserk trying to get the helmet off; there was a big wasp nest inside the helmet!! They had stung him on the head, the ears, face, neck...I know it's horrible but Bebe and I  were laughing so hard that I thought he was going to kick my ass (he's a big dude too). His friggin' head looked like someone had been thowin' golf-balls at it. The lesson is: always check yer helmet for bugs before you put it on. Love the little GS, Connecticut (another good place for automotive engineers...strange), and this forum.

MY HELMET SITS ON THE SHELF IN MY CLOSET RIGHT NEXT TO THE CLEAN SHEETS AND THE CLOTHES WASHING DETERGENT. IT WAS THE ONLY SAFE PLACE I COULD FIND FOR IT IN MY ROOM. AT LEAST IT ALLWAYS SMELLS NICE.

I'm so glad I checked this thread.  I love it when RTUBMAN types in all caps.  It puts a hop in my step every time because WITHOUT FAIL, he will get blasted in the 2nd or 3rd post.  Dgyver, that was classic.  Cernunos, you need to buy the wrecked sportster from Bebe's uncle!

And Jake, can't buy that Sportster, that was a few years back and he's still ridin' it. Ive heard of peope getting their helmets pissed in when left on their bikes...so be careful, lunch trash might be the least of your worries.

Keep a used fabric softener sheet in your helmet to keep the stench at bay too...
