*shakes head* I read the story but for some reason I can't get the video to work. What kind of bike did he have?
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

A yellow one...   (I couldn't tell...)

looks like a F-2.
but anyway I got a speeding ticket for doing 7 over on I-40 in burke county.  they are just dicks to be dicks, and should be shot accordingly.

RVertigo

I think that's been going around lately...  I was talking with friends tonight and three out of four had recent tickets for less than 10 over... :dunno:

I guess we should all ride like me...  TOO SLOW!

The older I get the slower I ride/drive.  I know cops are always on the lookout and though some guys/cops are pretty cool and will write minimum tix for excessive speeding (like a kid I know who got caught doing 90 in a 50 but got written for 75 in a 65), BUT other cops are writing tix for 5 over  :o

I just don't want the tickets so I pick and choose my fast moments, I save them for the desolate stretches that I can see 3 miles down the road.

The cop that ticketed me for 60 in a 25 didn't cut me any slack and WE BOTH work for the same agency..... :?

my first ticket was for 65 in a 45, even though i was doing 80.  the cop explained that if he ticketed me for 80, it would be felony speeding.

someone later told me that often the cops will give the lesser charge so they'll be less likely to have to go to court.

That story is just such  :bs:
First, the reporter who wrote the story clearly didn't run it past the proof-reader- "persuit"?  :?
Then that cr*p about "130 mph".  Ooh, those dangerous bikers.  :bs:   The cop only knows how fast he was going, and presuming he was stationary when the biker went past, perhaps he had to get up to 130 to catch the guy.  That doesn't mean the guy was going that fast.  In fact, looking at the video, he didn't seem to be going too fast when he was around those other cars.
Finally, I'm not sure what your regs on hot pursuit are over there, but it seems to me the cop car travelling at the speeds he was going was more of a threat to the public than the bike was, simply because it is so much more massive and thus will hit harder.  perhaps he would have been better getting the guy's licence plate number and picking him up at home.  :dunno:

in the boonies, cops make their own laws....i bet he purposely crashed into the suspect's motorcycle.

but then again he wouldn't be running if he wasn't guilty of something
My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

Not always true.  Perhaps he had reason to fear the cops that had nothing to do with guilt.  As you said, in the boonies, the cops make their own rules.

atleast I have a puropose in life, and am not just a big fat loser.   loser.

octane

Yup, 900RR. That 'persuit' didn't look like it was much more than 30 mph! And damn, I mean, I'm not one to encourage running from the police, but if that dude couldn't lose a damn Dodge Intrepid on a 900RR in traffic, he's got no business riding anyhow!

The Buddha

That's by my house ... that bike is a 900RR (96-97) and that black dude in the begining of the clip was the genius that said "Tusami" back in Dec 04 right after the South east asia Tsunami.
Of course The Nazi cops here will think nothing of crashing into anyone ... but the local news The same WSOC on that clip now claims that he had 2 grams of Crystal Meth .. whihc is why he ran evidently.
Cool.
