There is a gorgeous 1996 gs500 (that's never been wreaked) for sale in my area. I really want to buy one but am not sure if $1700 is an aceptable price for it. It has 7300 miles on it.

Any feedback???

$1700 sounds like a fantastic price for a low milage bike!
I paid $2200 for my 99 with 12k, and down light on one side.....

Look it over closely, and make sure there arent any well hidden problems.
Other than that I say go for it!!!

I got a '96 for $1600, with only 3800 miles. But mine had rust in the gas tank.

Well not bad, this time of year - Last year I saw a 97 at a dealer for 2900 ... and it sold too - to a guy I now know ... One more of those chase down the road and talk to him type friends. And get this ... a used car lot sold an 81 GS 450 with a ugly, rusty quarter+ sized dent in the tank, but other wise excellent shape for $1300.
Cool.

Dang, that's more than I paid for an immaculate '00 from a freakin' BMW dealer.

Like they say - give it a good looksee, but if it is what it seems, jump on it!

I paid $1650 for a '96 with 9,300miles and needing 2 tires.

Dude...i sold my'02 with V+H system, and Pirelli tires to a really nice guy on EBay for 2K.  It was important to me that he cared for her and based on his emails he has....not all seemingly "too good to be true" deals are scams.

Good luck..!!!  ;)

I bought a 96 with 3800 miles on it for $1600.  It had been dropped on both sides and I spent hours getting the carbs dialed in.  Thanks to this site and lots of great advice from all the members, I am happily riding. Buy it, its summer time and you need to be riding.   :thumb:

Well, I gave in... From all that i've heard, and looked up on cycle trader (and ebay), It sounded like a good deal. The bike will be in my possesion this weekend.

YEAH! The search is finally over!!!

Thanks for your input!

Congrats slippy..!!!  And as for my auction of the bike...i did offer it up here first but it must have been a slow year for bike sales...not to mention there were a lot less members here... :dunno:
