So the skyline trip was great on Thursday.  A little overcast, but no rain.  The new Michelin Pilot Powers were AWESOME... very sticky.  We rode down the Drive to mile 51, set up camp... then......

I took the liberty of blurring out my gesture to keep it family-friendly but you can imagine what's going on there.  The DC area got 3 inches of rain in 24 hours!!![/i]... the nice, steady kind that won't let up and soaks everything through no matter how many tarps you hang or how much goretex you wrap around anything.

so we turned around and called it a weekend.  Never make it to Lynchburg :-/

Anywho... here are a few other pics

The SV fully packed up

Since I was all Power-Rangered out, I took the liberty of bustin' a kung-fu move at the park entrance

Obligatory overlook pic

and the campsite just before mother nature decided to play her cruel game with us

So I guess we will just have to try again sometime.  For anyone interested, the access road on Rt 211 west was the best ride in the whole park, switchbacks all the way up the mountain.. highly recommended.

NYC gets more rain than Seattle... and it averages 3+ inches every month.  Seattle dries out when the weather is good for riding and rains a lot in the winter!  No fair!

And supposedly Binghamton, NY has the 2nd most cloudy days per year in the US...  :?

at least I'm no loger jealous for having to bail on the Skyline trip.  If it make you feel any better, the sea fishing trip we had planned for my buddy's bachellor party at the shore got cancelled because of the same storms.

Ja, I looked up the stats, and Chicago (where I was born) gets more total inches of annual precipitaion than Seattle.  But we have more total rainy days.  In Chicago, you get a thunderstorm, get all of the rain out at once, and then it stops.  In Seattle, you get that same amount of rain spread over a week.
