hello all
just curious if anyone knows an easier way to adjust the floats without  taking the carbs off the bike. ive done the float height trick and  one of my levels is too high, which i assume is causing it to run rich on that side, also assuming this by looking at the plug for that side, which seems to be coated in black soot and gas.
if the level is too high, would i want to adjust  the float arm down or up?
ive tried adjusting it by hand and using a ruler for measurement, but  i find there to be a lot of error in that and its usually still not right.
is it easy to remove the float bowls with the carbs on the bike? if so, how is it reinstalling the float bowls with the carbs on the bike? it seems like it would be a little tricky getting the float needle to stand up vertically so it can be reinserted in the correct place. is there a trick to it?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

It is possible. Once I used one of those right-angle screwdrivers and was able to get the stock philips screws off the floatbowls and adjust the tang without removing the floats using a very small flathead screwdriver.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Yea i do it all the time ... However I swap the phillips head screws with allen head bolts ... and then its a 2 second deal to yank it off and Heck I take off the float assy and fiddle with it too ...

i have the allen heads on my float bowls and originally i started out trying to adjust them by leaving the carbs on the bike but the float needle kept giving me problems. since i have to adjust them again i will try it  with the carbs on the bike.
one more question, if the fuel level is too high, per the fuel line trick, which way do i adjust the tang, up or down?  i've tried both directions but seem to end up with the same result; could be something else.
thanks

On the bike the tang should go up for lower fuel level.
