Well, I managed to get my '92 GS  all the way together. Cleaned the carbs, got a non-rusty tank, reattached exhaust and fixed the turn signals. It was a lot of fun taking it out for a spin around the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they didn't cover "turning left at the stop sign" in my safety course and I dropped the bike in the dirt off the shoulder of the street!!  No damage to me or the motorcycle,we have a lot of rain so just muddy.  It was just funny and we had a good laugh.  I feel like when I first learned to drive a car, so I am taking it slow.   Thanks Lori, you are a wonderful wife!  Thanks also to Gstwin members starwalt for the turn signal issue, toobrie for the stock handle bars, seamax for the exhaust bolts, and of course, srinath for various questions answered. What a great bike and forum!

awesome, how does the newer tank fit with the older fairings?

Destro

The furthest forward grommet on the fairing has nowhere to attach, so I am working on homemade way (read: zipties) to connect it, or srinath says he can make something for $10.  The front part of the seat is also bent up a little bit more than it should be.  But I got the tank for $80 shipped off ebay and have seen the 89-00 tanks going for $150 or more, so it was definitely worth it.  If I find a newer seat available cheap, I am thinking about plastic welding the seats together so it would have the newer front end and the older rear.
