My buddy was looking at a 500 Ninja, and i was pumped!  Finally someone that i can ride with that isn't goin to leave me in their dust.  Don't get me wrong, i love the GS but she doesn't got the balls to go with the 6's  .  Now he is talking about getting the 04 Bandit 600.  We have the same mind frame:  We love speed, so how bad is it goin to be for me if he gets the bandit.  I know to ride my own ride, but for fun, how much quicker is the bandit?  Thanks

if you ride straight roads...say goodbye. the B6 has 3x the hp (or almost) and is loads quicker. But if you hit the twisties you should be able to keep up with most 600's, even sportbikes. The twistier it is the more likely you should be able to keep up, even with liter bikes.

Yes, if you and mister literbike were equal riders you'd be dust but that is not often the case. use the gs for all its worth and get better at riding it-then you'll be the superior rider and embarass all sorts of bikes.

how does bandit 600 have 3x the horsepower??  :dunno:
My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

gazingwa

Yeah 3x????
the gixxer 600 is only twice and it is fuel injected..
bandit is carbed...
bandit is 78hp.. so 50% more than our 52... with 20% more weight...

doesn't sound a whole lot quicker and sounds less manuverable
82 GS850GL..... yeah i kinda sold out

ya that bike suks...it doesnt move for shaZam! it is a heavy beast!! the gs is way better....and when you get in the twisties!! you will take his ass even if he gets you on the strait. the gs is amazing through turns the bandit suks balls through turns!

Slavik

agree with above posts, but do think it's funny that every one automaticly assumes that the guy on GS is far supperior rider............I say if both you and your friend want to ride together, you should be able to w/o him thinking that you are holding him back, but if he would want to pull away, he will

i'm not saying the bandit is slow... thats the bike i originally wanted... but it isn't 3 times faster.. that was my point... somewhat faster... but less flickable

If  you go riding with someone and they leave you behind then don't go riding with them anymore. A person who no longer sees a partner in the mirror and doesn't stop and or turn around to check on you is no friend.

They say 80 for the Bandit 600 @ 430 lbs...

GS == 7.45 lbs per horse
Bandit == 5.38 lbs per horse

According to them anyway...

RVertigo

And my Ford Exploder is 25.33 lbs per horse...

Just a guess but 45 is with a pipe and jetted and thats at the rear wheel, I think the 50 whatever is at the crank and is probley stock setup that Suzuki used to measure at the factory.

VersOne

the gs only has 39.5 (01) horses.
and that is the number that counts because thats at the rear wheel.

If your into numbers, it would be pretty hard to find anyting with less ponies.

Love my GS...

Agreed, the GS is about 39hp at the wheel.

The 600 sportbikes are over 100hp at the wheel.  I know, doesn't seem fair eh?  100cc more and 3X the HP!

The 600 class sport bikes whomp on the GS.  That's just the way it is.  Equal riders on each bike you'll never see them again unless the roads are as twisty as the figure 8 in the box at the MSF course.

Don't let them fool you.  10mph hairpins are the ONLY place you have a chance keeping up.  My Ninja destroys my GS.

The thing that just kills me is the weight.  Go look at your average GSXR750 and you've got (just swagging the numbers) roughly 130hp?  Probably more?  and the bike weighs the same as the GS.....

ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I hate going into the dealer because I always go sit on the GSXR750 and I just think to myself "it weighs the same as your bike dude....".  Then I go sit on the GSXR1000 and the salesman comes over and I get depressed...

My good friend, if you'd like you get your sprits up, just ask the kind gentlemen what he drives home after work.  More likely than not, he'll answer "my wonderful Aerio", or better yet, "my lovely Swift".  At that point you can take solesce that your bike is infinitely more pleasureable (not sure if that's a word!?), and that you've transcended to Nirvana at least one lifetime before your beloved salesman.

(Sorry.. I'm in a bitter and incompressibly bad mood this evening).. must not eat cow... bad hindu...
