Finally finished my paint job after a couple weeks or so and a lot of cans of Duplicolor :P. I was so happy to ride. I need to change my grips... I put some octane booster/carb cleaner in but it still has that noise (sigh) anyway, on with the pics! (More rambling at bottom!)

I like it a lot better like this. The only reason I got a yellow bike was because I thought it would help people see me better, but it doesn't. I feel like the only thing that helps a decent amount is wearing a day-glow jacket.

I painted the body "Universal Black" with Duplicolor from Wal-mart/Autozone and the rims, grab bar, and gas tank lid (the black) I painted "Pewter" Duplicolor (the aerosol cans... lotta work lol). I was originally going to polish the rims and the grab bar (got the grab bar lookin nice) but the rims were way too much work, I couldn't get the stuff off the inside, only that outside lip, so I figured I'd just paint the whole thing. I might put some sort of decals on later. Don't know what. Skulls or spider or something different. Don't want my bike lookin like a Gixxer now, do we?

I taped off the front tire when I painted, but I got paint all on the back tire, the sidewall. I hope I don't slip. It's almost bald I have to get a new tire soon anyway, so I didn't care too much. Probably try those Cheng-Shin tires or whatever. They're cheap and they look ok.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

i'm a big fan of non-glossy black. love the color, wheels look good too for being spray painted. i like it.
The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

so I'm a little curious.  How many cans of paint did you use? And at the end of it all, bout how much did you spend?

That tire is junk, lol.  If your in the cheapy tire market I would reccomend Avon AM51/52 tires.  I dont actually have them but I do believe there better then the sheing shin or whatever it is, right now I have some Metzler Z6 tires on my bike but when these wear out Ill probley go to the Avon's.

Sweet paint job. That looks really nice.

Where did you get those flush-mount fronts and short-stalk rear signals? They look awesome.

Good job.

Calling Cheng Shin's junk is really putting it mildly.  Those tires are straight up evil!  If you value your safety stay away from the Cheng Shin's.  They might be alright on a cruiser but they're horrid on anything remotely sporty.  Go with the Avon's, Pirelli, Metzler, etc.  Something trustworthy.

Bike looks great.

I used about 10 or 11 cans of paint and spent about 40 bucks. It was my first time doing something like this, so I didn't know how thick to make the coats and stuff. I still have some left over from my last set of cans. I really was suprised how well the rims came out myself. Especially after I tried to strip the paint of the rear one.

I got the tail-light from clear alternatives. It's like clearalternatives.com. It's an LED tail light, looks nice and it seems brighter than stock. I haven't replaced the license plate light yet. Maybe red is good enough. The box it came in said like CBR1100 on it or something like that. And the screw things were cut off a little. Perfect fit though. Maybe they ran out of boxes.

And on tires... I guess I'll get some avons lol.

Thanks for all the compliments. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Sliders that bolt to the fairing aren't going to do much unless you just drop the bike on its side from a standstill... you really need frame sliders.  I have some bigass ones on the SV that look like highway pegs gone wrong, but maybe they'll help if I lowside the thing.
