im looking for a cruise control for my 2000 gs500. some body help please!
thanks,

there is no cruise control (button type) per se.

You can use kerry's butterfly nut trick for cruise or you can get a throttle rocker (that's what its called) for abotu 11 bucks that sits on your throttle and locks it.

a throttle rocker is different than a throttle lock, it only makes it so you can rest yor wrist while riding, not remove your hand from the bar.

davipu must be in a "modest" mood tonight.

Check out this thread for info on the NEP throttle locks.

Meanwhile, see my DIY solution (mentioned by The_good_guy) HERE.  This "cheap trick" works for '90 to '00 models because of the threaded insert anchored inside the handlebar.  It will NOT work for '01+ models.

One of these days I'll have to try out the O-ring version....

Lets look at the picture that you are painting and I notice that first this is your first post on this site which usually means that the GS is a new bike for you and also it is your first street bike.

If this is the case and you are new to street riding the last thing that I think you need is a cruise control on your bike.   I could be wrong but I personally feel that they are unsafe because they tend to allow for you to not pay attention to what is going on around you.

It is just my view but if you need a cruise control then you are not in control and on a motorcycle that tends to mean that you are not paying attention and you are going to end up DEAD.

Just my view.

Okay, well I have an NEP cruise and it works.  But to get it to work I had to Dremel it do death and eventually attach it to the RUN switch housing with some short screws.

It does work though, but I'm afraid I really can't give any advice since I had to customize the heck out of mine to get it to work.

Good luck!

did you get the right one?  cause they make several ones, mine went on in like 2 minutes and works great

As far as the throttle-rocker, I've heard some BAD stories about those things, so be wary.
