I would totally buy A Cb750four, or some similar bike from the mid seventies to early 80s.  I saw one a few weeks back at work and almost drooled on it from 15 feet away.  

Also, I just saw a 1983 Suzuki GR650 on craigslist.... beautiful!  And these bikes are only going for like 1000-1500 in pretty good condition.  Some day, when I have a garage.........

If I had a garage (to work on it as a project bike) and the money, I would LOVE to get something like this...

I bought a CB750 for 100 dollars, got it running, sold it for 750. OK bikes, wasn't too impressed by the power or handling unfortunately.

you want the cb750SS (supersport)...that header, 4->1 twisted metal is rolling art.  the cb550ss was my first bike (in my head)

Flexy frames, ROTTEN electrics, rare plastics at premium prices, skinny tires....
Speaking from experience (Two 70's Suzuki GS's and a CB450), classic bikes are hard to justify for me. There's too much that can leave you waiting for a ride home.

I nearly bought a CB750SS.  Cool looking bike.  I have a feeling it would have been hard to round up parts for it.  Harder than with the GS.

But I'd like to cafe one.

my first bike was a 1975 CB550F.  it was beautiful.  but i decided i'd rather ride than wrench, so i got the GS.

parts weren't that bad.  i was able to find just about everything i needed at Johnson and Wood in North Hollywood.  also got a bunch of stuff off ebay.

it would be a great bike for someone with more than one bike.  i just wouldn't want to solely rely on that bike unless you'd really restored it to ship shape.

Ian's Motorcycle Service in Van Nuys seems to know a lot about these bikes, and does good work on them.
