I would have posted the question on the CBR board, but one doesn't exist!

Anyhow, here are the details :

A couple of nights ago, after a few extremely hot/humid days, I took the bike (2001 CBR600F4i) out for a night spin.  I switched from hi beam to low beam and the engine IMMEDIATELY cut out on me!  I pulled over, hit start and the bike fired up no problem.   A few minutes later, I tried it again.  Low to High Beam, and again, the engine competely cut out on me.  It happened one more time, probably about 10 minutes later.  Again, no problems firing it back up.  The problem disappeared about an hour later.

I've got the Clymer for the CBR and checked out the electrical section, but I have no idea how to start problem solving.  I know that if I take it into the dealer, they won't be able to reproduce it, and will likely charge me a few hours for having fun riding around on the bike.  Can I hook up my voltmeter and test while switching between high/low?  Does anything  obvious jump out at anyone?  Lose ground?  Should I bite the bullet and just take the bike into the dealer?  I just don't know how to start tackling this problem.

This happen to me once but I still can't figure out why. I made sure all the connectors were good and this has seemed to solved it.

I do know of a cbr board

But I don't think your problem would be cbr specific it is just a general electrical fault. I know a little about electricity but not alot maybe we have an electrician or engineer on the site?

On my nighthawk ... I had no headlight ... I nopened it and tested eveything, no voltage comming through, then opened the switches ... seemed OK except  fof the fact the switch seemed to not have enough spring tension to make contact ... I lightly pulled the spring and made it more preloaded hoping it fix it ... nothing still no voltage at the light plug ... then I decided it had some ground problems and put it back and ... all of a sudden ... it has headlight ... like WTF ... I tested it after fixing and nothing, even went for a ride without headlight ... suddenly 3 days later it works ...
Cool.
