Just a question for curiosity to US & UK (and elsewhere except Aust) riders do you guys get Gearsac or Ventura racks? when I look through picts of peoples bike I notice a distinct lack of them, I see saddle bags, tank bags, Ventura top boxes and such but no racks and soft expandable bags just wondering are we down under the only ones who get them ( I would be really surprised if we are :o ) because they kick ass for luggage capacity

I haven't heard of Gearsac, but Ventura products are certainly available.  I've never seen a Ventura rack on a GS, but at least one person who is trying to choose a luggage setup has asked me about them.

I've got the ventura rack and bag for mine and its a champ much better then the saddle bags I had. Here is a link to gearsack if you would like a look the ventura rack system is almost exactly the same

I was wondering why everyone was using the top box when the rack system was cheaper and held more here is a link to the ventura system

Thanks again for the answer about the spacers as well

Hey! I'm that guy who asked about Ventura racks!

Curious which size pack you bought with yours, the 35L or 45L, or the sport pack.   Also what effect the rack/bag has on your center of gravity and riding.   Pics would be excellent as well, especially with and without the pack.

I have a tankbag that takes care of my commuting needs, but I really want to do some weekend camping and luggage is on my short list of purchases. a set of saddlebags is ~150, the ventura rack and bag is about $350 if I remember correctly.

I've got the 45litre bag and its great  :thumb:  holds everything you could need for a weekend away the bag actually sits over the back of the seat and not the flat rack part behind the seat thats only for when doubling someone or for extra capacity such as strapping your tent and sleepingbag to so it dosen't  really affect centre of gravity that much its more like having a child or small women on the back of the bike who knows how to lean with the bike I can not recommend this system highly enough.
I will try and get some picts of it and see if I can post them up if I can work out how to but will probably be another couple of days so keep watching the posts :thumb:
