Yesterday was moto wrecnhing day at a friend's garage so I brought a few 'projects' I had been meaning to get to but never did. Last week I did a battery refill & spark plug install as a warm-up but yesterday was FUN day.

First, I tightened the chain. YAY! What a difference! Talk about snappy. Ok, so the GS isn't ever going to really be SNAPPY, but for the GS, well, it got snappy-er.

Then came the oil & filter change. V&H pipe loosening definitely a pain in the arse when you don't have man-torque built in.

Then came the Katana 600 shock swap. Ok, why did I wait so long on this one? Yeah, it was messy with filth, but this shock is so much nicer than the stock. Being able to play with the preload and rebound makes a big difference for those of us who don't weigh a ton BUT carry a lot of crap and ride on rough roads often. (stupid PennDOT  :x  ) The bike really does dip into turns faster too. My complaint with the stock shock was that the rebound was too quick and that the rear didn't track well through turns with any form of bump. Also, if/when i was carrying a pillion, overall it was too weak.

Then came re-tightening the chain! DOH!

Anywho, I feel accomplished and excited to experience my new setup for many more miles. Though I may have to consider the progressive springs for the front now...  :thumb:
