I have been the proud owner of a new gs500f for a month now. I love all aspects of the bike, except one--the sound of the engine/exhaust. My system is stock right now. some might consider this a "ricer" question, but I gotta find out anyway. Is there any way to make my bike have the exhaust tone quality of a bike like the GSX-R (or even sound remotely like it)? If so, what would I need to do?

You can get aftermarket pipes for it, but it'll never sound like a GSXR (inline4) or a VTR1000 (vtwin). Just like a little honda civic will never sound like a pontiac GTO. An after market pipe WILL however give the rattly little GS a much meatier sounding exhaust note.

You can try to source a Yoshi pipe, or do what alot of people round here have done and get a WileyCo pipe and a flange for it.

you should be proud that ur not riding a gixxer.  you ride a twin, it will always sound like one.

you go get a spare gs motor and glue it on the side so you have 4 cyl.

Its an illusion..
There are two header pipes, but they both go to the same piston..
There is only one spark plug..

I drilled my pipe out to make it sound more ballsy..

Sounded more like a riding lawnmower with an exhaust leak..

funwithtwins

i drilled mine out from inside the back then took a chisel and punched it in completly and its got a deep rumble too it doesnt sound too bad nice rumble but when you get in to the gas at a low rpm it sounds like a damn 4 wheeler. the good news is that to me it sounds alot better than factory and about the same maybe deeper than a guy that paid about 200 for his f1 pipe it is a twin so it will allways sound like a twin but ive learned to like it. other people like it too they think it sounds meaty.
