So much frustration and heartache from my bike not running correctly..

I finally figured it out..

The original problem was a dirty air filter (which I replaced) and dirty carbs (which were cleaned)...
But when I went to put the carbs back in the bike, I remembered where all the hoses went, except two.  I had a hunch, so I didn't look on this forum for a routing diagram.

I ended up swapping the petcock-to-left-carb vacuum hose with the little tank overflow hose.  How could I?  I feel like an ass.

I wanna thank: davipu, kerry, mjm, jace009gs, and faxxxy for your helpful advice.

I guess we all know now that you can run your bike with those swapped.  But your bike will make cough and choke and beg for mercy.

Tomorrow:
Oil change
Brake fluid change
and Chain lube.. (no worries here, I've done this before)

if we should be worried about the oil change and brake fluid, be careful.  dont overtighten the oil filter cover bolts (they break too easy!).  also, for bleeding the brakes, buy a speed bleeder.  it is the best $20 i have spent in a while- no more cracking open the valve, closing it, etc....just pump the old stuff out.

Ye Olde Auto parts chain should have both. Try Advance, Pep Boys, etc.

You could always use Kerry's method:  http://www.bbburma.net/HowTo/BrakeFluid_Replace/

..I did, took 15 minutes  :)
