Had a super 4th weekend in the NC mountains riding even though it rained some still had a great time.  Part of what made it such a great trip was my "new" 2001 GS and the bike-to-bike radios that we used.  I have gotten so frustrated trying to get my husband to stop when I needed to.  We have tried several different radios and were not happy with their performance.  I sure didn't want to put a fortune in them.  After much researching I found a great CB.  At Radiogadgets.com they have a Midland Ultra Compact CB  that works great.  I put my radio in my tank bag and my husband put his in a fanny pack on the bars of his Concours.  With the radios, headsets for full face helments, auxiliary cable to use with MP3 player etc., antenna and shipping and handling we have less than $500.00 in both.  Now we can talk to each other when needed and to our other friends that have CB radios. The radios can be used with batteries or plugged into the cig. lighter.  If used with the cig. lighter must use an external antenna, they have a 14" antenna that we bolted on a plate that we made to hold the license plate on and it is hardly noticeable. We ran a plug so didn't have to worry about batteries and can still use the radios in the car or as a handheld if needed to.  So not just getting something that stays on the bike. Well worth the money. :)   So if anyone is looking for a good radio I think that you will be very happy with these.  :thumb:

I use 2 midland GMRS/FRS radios.. I paid $24.00 for the pair.. they work up to 7 miles in range and came with home charger, cig chargers, and headsets w/mic and work hands free.. you just speak and it picks up your voice.

I have found that they work great.. I just pop it in my jacket pocket. Getting the earpiece to stay while you put on your helmet is a bit tough, but once its on it works great. some of my friends have started using theirs so we can all talk. They may not be the best solution, but they will save you 100's of dollars over dedicated "Bike" communication systems. And unlike some bike systems that connect w/ a wire you can use these off the bike as well once you reach your destination  :thumb:
