i dont know about fake, but its assisted, they use tools to do it frame by frame to get perfection, I heard it took the guy 8 months or so.  A

Also found one for the original Contra game as well.

The contra one seems fake (it looks the guy uses an invulnerability cheat) -- on the snowy level there are vehicles with spikes, the player runs right through them.

I grew up playing these, I wonder what sort of replay value they have?  I need to track down roms of my old games.

replay values are awsome on most of the olds school games, at least from the last time you played them until now, contra is great mario bros 3 is one of the best.  love them all.

my friend Brett did it in 14 minutes unassisted, taped it with a camcorder.  I don't know for sure, but he may have (or is preparing to) submit it to some website which deals with old game records.
