which one is truly the phrase that Jesus last uttered...

Luk 23:46 And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the ghost.

or

Joh 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

or

Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Each has written what the Holy Spirit inspired them to write.

I think they were all on laudanum.

I'd say base your guess on the person's account you find to be most believable...

There are other stories in the bible that have different accounts of the same event...

Which one is right?   :dunno:  I guess that's up to you.

You wanted an answer, I gave you the most logical one.

Well, the most logical isn't listed...  Most people just say, "Eeeaaaagh" when they die... :dunno:

Speaking of which, the Matthew selection was a bit premature....

I reason that in Luke 23:46 the Father was not yet satisfied.
Matt 27:46 Is the realization of the separtation from God because God had to seperate himself from the sin of the world, of which, Jesus then bore, but He did not die just then (as Kerry pointed out).
In both of the above verses, Jesus spoke in a loud voice, meaning that he still had strength to do so, and also it was not done, yet.

so what DID Humphrey Bogart  say in Cassablanca?

"Play it again, Sam"

"Play it, Sam. Play As Time Goes By. "

"You played for her, you can play it for me."

Does it really matter?  Maybe that's a hair that most movie fans wouldn't bother to split.

p.s. the answer is '3'.  He never uttered the now famous 'play it again, sam'.  So does that make the film any less entertaining or the scene any less meaningful.  I submit not.  :dunno:

Some say Jesus was just a prophet, and not the last one either.
I'm wondering chinox22x, did you find all three of those passages  yourself? If so, that's a lot of bible study  :o
I'm not surprised that they are different accounts, considering that they were accounts of spoken word before written, and then translated to English before you read it.
Why do you want to know what his last words were?

If you're curious, you can just go rent it.   :dunno:

Well, I guess anyone who's curious about the question posed in this thread can go rent Mel Gibson's "Pop Goes the Caviezel."   :P

i did not purposely find them however i did notice them when i read the bible.  i often read it out of curiousity....try to find a new meaning to each passage everytime i read it.  at the same time;  contradictions are all over the place.  this original post is not a contradiction but a confusion.
