Do you guys pack lunch while riding?

OK, so the title is a bit of a parody of a current thread... but seriously... on long rides I carry stuff like power bars and beef-jerkey to fill the void, but that gets a little old after a while.

I'm starting to think about expanding my menu for any long weekend rides.  any recommendations?

I disagree. I think lunch is good when used responsibly, but it rarely is. We are having a problem with rap music depicting lunch as cool to the kids, but these kids don't realize that the rappers grew up were lunch was NECESSARY to survive. You get these kids in suburbia walking around with their headphone blasting and a lunch in their backpacks, and they go showing it off willy nilly.

But then again, if we outlaw lunch, only outlaws will carry lunches.

wtf?  Where are your statistics?  What are you gonna do if you get stopped by some hungry fool in pickup truck?  You better've packed a good one.  I'm talkin a sandwich, an apple, a snackpack and/or fruit snack, and a juice box.  

We have the right in this country to pack a lunch, and I'll be damned if a bunch of free-spirits wanna take that right away!

I carry my snack foods along with a few handy tools in a backpack.  Quick, easy, and cheaper than a good tank bag   .

and on really long rides, jolly ranchers, you pull them out of the wrapper, hold them between your index and middle fingers and stick them up into your lid.

go to taco bell buy some chalupa's and if you put them under the seat it keeps em warm.

I bring lunch to work with me...  Does that count?

I have yet to get far enough from a city that I couldn't find a fast food joint in under 10 minutes...  So, I don't really need to bring food for the ride.

I freeze ham-and-cheese sandwhiches.  Tillamook extra sharp, and dense ham (none of the watery stuff).  They stay (mostly) frozen in just a baggie, but you have to time the lunch stop just right:  too early, and the frozen ham crunches (eww).  Too late, and you have to toss it out.

My f%$king cat pissed in/on my tank bag last week, so I've been hesitant to put any kind of food in it no matter how clean I think it is. Not to mention ham starts to smell like shaZam! when you're riding around in the sun all day...

Most lunch I ever carried was a King-size meal from burger king.  I wedged the cup between the clutch cable and the handle bar and stuffed the bag in my jacket. (it got tosty inside my jacket).  But I was just taking it home to eat, not going riding with it "just in case".

I'm hip to the backpaking thing.  I suppose that I could fit a pretty hearty meal into my tank-bag, MSR Firefly cookstove and fuel included.

I also have a stash of MRE's that I've held onto for a coupla years... so they should only have about 8 years left before they go bad... ha.   maybe I could try packin' one of those bad-boys along on a road-trip.

I have carried several pizzas strapped to the gas tank on my TLR before and wearing full leathers too. Never know when the urge will hit.
