Ok, I have a 2005 gs500f and I took it all apart and checked the valve clearances, left intake is too close, right intake is took close, left exhaust is good and right exhaust is too far.  I just want to know if it comes with a standard shim from the factory or do I need to pull them out to see what they are.  Weather got me so I had to reassemble before my engine got a drink.

Shims come in only too sizes:

A bit too thick, and a bit too thin!

Just kidding, but you'll have to pull them and see...  and ideally measure them with a caliper.  They come in all sizes, even fresh from the farm.

thanks, I was just hoping that I wouldn't have to tear my little GS apart again to measure the shims.  Well I gess the more times I have to take her apart the better I will remember what goes were. Thanks

You are exactly right. Even with having a hugh assortment, I still cannot get the perfect size. It really sucks when someone has installed them in the wrong way and the cam has worn off the thickness marking.
Common sense in not very common.
