Hey guys,
I'm in need of some help. I was changing my oil today and my friend wanted to help, but i reluctant to let him. Being a nice guy I let him help. Long story short he put on the oil filter cover and started to tighten the bolts without me knowing and one of them snapped cause the gasket wasn't in properly. What are my options? The one that snapped was on the bottom of the oil filter cover and it just snapped at the tip and now is stuck in the nut. Is it possible fro me to just replace the bolt and if so how hard would it be? Thanks

Kerry

Yes, you can replace this yourself.  There are a couple of ways to go about it.  Click on the Search link at the top of the page and do a "Search for all terms" for "oil filter stud".

its a common thing to have happen and can happen simply from overtighening-they dont take that much to snap. my site has a how-to on fixing it as well.

good luck. Your friend owes you.
