...
first impressions: now it sounds like a real motorcycle

so I asked the dealer...

me: "so, now i can go above 5000rpm right? up to what?"
dealer: "well, I'll say, go up to 8000rpm now and then, and sometimes go up to 9k to give the engine some work. do this until you have 1200 miles on the engine"
me: "sounds good"

Tonight I was coming home, and since the freeway was empty as far as I could see (this town goes to sleep early :nono: ), I decided to give it a try...

I kinda chickened out at 7800rpm or so, because I was already doing 105mph  :o and I felt that was good enough for a warm up (for me, not the bike).

wow, I found out what happens when you open the throtle  :thumb:

I think im gonna try those high rpm's the dealer told me, but at lower gears    until I feel more confident with the bike.
Caturday yet?

The breakin rev limits are in the manual... and it's important to vary the revs during breakin as well as to keep them below those two arbitrary limits.

Wait until you can redline it. Good morning nurse, this thing can really move  :)

I can't imagine a 750cc now. Not the largest motor, but it's gotta be quick as all hell.

Enjoy. Apart from the fork dive (which I am just starting to notice), I have no qualms with the GS5.

I remember when I got my bike back from the dealer after it's 1st service. It idled at like 3000rpm instead of 1200rpm that it did originally. I was like what the frock!!
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

That's a good reason to do it yourself. I saved quite a bit of scratch and learned a lot at the same time. A little bonding with the new lady.  ;)
