it will consume about a quart of oil in under 2 minutes. there is no visible color of smoke and it doesnt drip. it started doing this all of a sudden on the freeway. now its drinking an extreme amount of oil and i cant figure where it goes. it cant be leaking it and it doesnt seem to be burning it. its black magic, theres a hex on my bike, any other ideas of whats going on? i didnt notice any difference in performance before and after it started this. i have been monkeying with my carbs before this.

Look in your air box ... but 1 quart in 2 mins must be a new record ...

Yea definately a new record! Of course I saw a buddy's car lose 5 quarts in about 30 seconds but that was from a chunk of crank shooting through the oil pan   but I dont think that would count  :thumb:

Not to sound like an @$$hole but you are checking oil level the same way every time right?

a qt ehhh?  either you had a gross mechanical failure or you checked the oil the first time with the bike straight up and the second time with the bike on the sidestand.

naw i was driving on the freeway oil light came on i put 2 quarts in 2 mins later the light was on again, i put a quart in, 1 min later the light was on again. bike was straight up and down and it wasnt showing on the dip. its stranded up at fort lewis but ill check my air box when i go up tonight. 3 quarts is alot for an airbox to hold.

As far as I know, the bike is pretty close to "dry" when the light comes on.  Pour in 2 quarts ... that's still a quart shy.  (Maybe it took 2 mins to refill the oil filter?)  Another quart ... that should be pretty close to good.  :?

And there's still nothing on the dipstick, with no drips and no burning oil?

It can be hard to see new oil on the dipstick.  But you probably knew that.  Otherwise, I would say to put in oil until it shows FULL on the dipstick and then see what happens.  (If you already did this both times, then forget I ever said anything.)

PS - How does the bike run?  Any weird sounds or anything?
