Friday night assignment...

I need help.

Tomorrow I'm heading up to New Hampshire to this store:

I want to leave there with a complete riding kit -- jacket and pants, gloves and boots. The boots I can live without -- I have a pair that are ok but... they have harley logos on them. Don't ask. I used to be young and foolish.

Anyway.

I need suggestions on what to get, keeping in mind my total budget is $600 or under (preferably $500).

Difficulty: Yellow. I'd prefer yellow accents and shaZam! to match my GS. Not mandatory but would be nice. I was looking at:

So, if you had, say $600 or a little less, and were walking in there tomorrow, what would you leave with?

I should mention that, outside of a preference for yellow, the main criterion is safety. I want to find the most rugged and protected kit I can, even at the risk of not being fashionable... Make sense? When I go down, I wanna get up and have a smoke, not a skin graft.

What sort of gear are you looking for - textile, or leather?  Do you want something you can wear over other clothes for commuting, or do you want a 1- or 2-piece leather suit specifically for sport riding that you can use at a track day?

Not sure I can afford straight leather, but a leather-textile mix would be good. I'd prefer something that can be worn over street clothes. I'd be open to a one piece, but I'm guessing, in my price range, I'm looking at a two-piece type thing. I probably won't ever do a track day. This is mainly for non-agressive street riding.

If you're on a budget, why not look online.  From the looking I've done, it's looks like motorcycle gear is always on closeout somewhere.  I just bought a jacket and gloves at motorcyclecloseouts.com today.

Looks like the store where you're heading carries Hein Gerike gear at decent prices - check out their Timbuktu jackets and pants (textile).  You likely aren't going to find them in yellow in that brand.  Firstgear also makes some good textile/mesh stuff.  Look for CE-approved armor.

I have Joe Rocket gear, and while it does OK by me it's not the nicest stuff in the world, and the armor is not CE-approved.  If I'd had the cash (which I do now) I likely would've bought another brand.  I am currently looking for a decent 2-piece leather suit for weekend riding.
