...my first crash out of the way  :(

not even quite sure what exactly happened, just getting into the corner at about 30mph the bike just slid from under me....everything took like 1/2 a second to coming to a stop....I guess I'll be more carefull next time

there are a few pieces damaged on a bike...a trim piece around a headlight, a tach case, a right footpeg bracket, a fairing bracket....checked the prices on bikebandit (thank Kerry for organizing the links) it'll be about 200 in parts.....most of the stuff is SOOOO overpriced, it's unreal....is there a place for used parts somewhere on the net?

another question....on bike bandit they have V&H exhaust (looks like a full system) for 250...is it just a slip on, or a complete exhaust?

Sorry to hear about your crash, you didn't say if you had any injuries... I hope they were minimal too.

Keep an eye on the for sale board and ebay.  I know what you mean about expensive parts...

Glad to hear that you are ok.  Sounds like your bike may have it a patch of oil or other slippery substance in the road

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone handle a motorcycle crash with such. . . aplomb.

Bravo!  You, my friend, are my new hero.

What were you wearing for gear? It's always good to hear a positive review on gear from someone whose actually 'used' it...

I just discovered that the at least one of the forks is bent (inner tube is)...

anyone has any tips for places to check out for used fork assemblies?
the 180 bucks for the inner tube that bikebandit is charging is just a bit too steep...

I'm dealing with this right now also.

1. Look for used forks here, on ebay, and at local bike boneyards.  Almost always complete forks, but still much cheaper than just the new part.
2. If the tube is not kinked, you can have it straightened at a machine shop.  You'll probably have to call around some to find a shop to do it.

can some one post a link to write up on Katana front end swap (if there is such a thing)...I searched and found a bunch of people mentioning it, but no link to howto's.....if I am going to be stock with buying new fork, i would rather have the suspension upgraded instead

got a pair of used forks from '91 for 225 shipped.....anything i should consider replacing as part of maintenance (either inside the forks or on the bike) while the whole front end is disassembled?

You may want to consider redoing the fork seals and replacing the fork oil on the new used forks unless you know it was done recently.

I know someone who might want those; how much are you asking, and where are you located? I don't know his zip code offhand, so post yours here, so he can calculate the cost of shipping and decide whether or not he wants them.

Thanks

cards1128

i looked on e-bay and they were about 10 bucks a set of 2 so i would take 10 for all 4 lights  my zip is 46750. let me know. by the way the wires were cut so i could use some of it to install my new ones but plenty long to connect more to.
