Getting nasty leak on left side.  I'm looking at the let hand crank-case cover.  There is a gasket there.  I think this is what the problem is.  Had the same situation at about 10,000 miles Suzuki changed it they changed the "stator gasket" which I assume is the same thing.  I miss something here.  Where is the oil coming from if the electrical system in underneath.  I assume that the stator does not sit in oil.
If I take off that cover to get to the gasket I assume that I will not get
a flood of oil.
Besides those pesky leaks the thing is running like a top.
Just got to get over my fear of doing the valves.

is it time to check the valves?

You will get a flood of oil (where do you think the oil is coming from?). Change the gasket before you seize the motor, like what happened to me on my little 250.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
