help needed - is this tranny gear worn out?

This is a tranny gear from a Katana motor but you guys are knowledgeable above all others so ... This is a pic of the first gear on the countershaft.  You can see that the tip of the gear is about a 1/4 of the thickness compared to the gear beside it (6th gear I think).  

Is this worn out or is it different to begin with for some reason?  I can see that it would get the most wear because it goes around the most times as it is the smallest of all the gears.  Problem is that it is integral to the countershaft and you have to replace the whole thing then if it is worn out.

Looking for some advice.

it's going to be different to start out with, being smaller you have to have the teeth closer together to get the right number on there.

doesntlook to bad,  when they wear to much youll usually see some high/low spots and the machining on the tips will be worn off

Is this worn out or is it different to begin with for some reason?  

Different gears can have a different pitch/width/profile.  Short of total failure, a gear does not gradually become knife-edged like a worn sprocket.

Ok .. thanks for the input guys!  Yeah, my second gear seems to have the high/low spots talked about.  That one was obviously worn.
