Where in Ohio are you?  In Cincinnati GS's are always in demand, if you want to sell it just put an ad in Cycletrader ($60) or on the Columbus craigslist and you'll likely get an offer within a couple of days from someone who's willing to come get it.

You seem to know about engines and the like, more than I do anyway. So it's strange that you sound almost deceived about the GS. The specs are easily available... 37 hp, I think ~25 ft-lbs of torque, 0-60 in ~5.5 seconds, 350 lbs dry, probably about 600 lbs with you or me on it, etc. It should be pretty easy to compare the power/weight ratio to some of your cars or ATVs and guess what the performance would be like.

One forum says one thing and the other something else.  I hear all of these hp claims then I see this  the day after I bring the GS home( yes I know another HP claim).  I guess I was blinded by the good looks and a good deal.

How much $ would it take to acheive 50 hp?  Reliability? Daily driver?

On a + note everybody I work with thinks it a GSXR and it will run 150 mph.   :)  Some of the HD guys know what it is but they don't say anything, they say at least I have a bike.

I guess I'll get it jetted and look into a little engine work after the warrenty is up.  Or just keep it to drive to work and get an older bigger cc bike.  Just being the way I am I always want more hp in whatever I drive.  I just can't seem to get away from drag racing.

My wife and I had problems a few years ago when I used to street race with my cars.  I totally gave up modding cars and went to atv's then started to modify them.  Then I got my Neon and it started all over again, but no street racing :nono: .  Every once in awhile Il'll go to the track or stretch her legs on a open road, but the urge at a stop light still gets me.  Now I got a bike and started to get parts for it.  It is an endless cycle for me.....

the only thing that makes it look like a gsxr is the headlight, your coworkers must not be avid motorcycle enthusiasts

No they are not.  Just the HD guys.  Alot of the guys see the "suzuki" + full fairing and think of a crotch rocket.  It don't look anything like a Katana so the only other full fairing Suzuki is a GSXR.  Thats my guess in how their brain works. :dunno:

Quote from: GRUstart working on the gs engine...you can get a lot more power...i think you can bore it out to 650 cc with busa pistons...not sure though
work on the carbs, mill the head a little for more compression...port and polish...things like that

555 (79mm) is the largest you can go with stock sleeves. Any larger and you will have to knock out the sleeve and bore the cylinder to fit larger sleeves. The cases will need to be modded as well.

Busa pistons will not work in a GS but they will in a SV.
Common sense in not very common.
