...any riders in the area? Love to get up on the Blue Ridge Parkway or maybe the Dragon! Let me know.

oppy00

not me.

I've tried to find people within 100 miles of me and been unsuccessful.  Hell I don't know if there are any GSers within 200 or even 300 miles of me.

Good luck to you though.

All the way in Cary, man; but maybe someday Srinath and all the North&South Click GSers can all get up one day.

i'm in greenville for the rest of the semester for my co-op, and will be back again next summer.  but i just got my first bike (gs500), so it will be a while before i make any long trips or visit the dragon.  so how 'bout next summer?

pslamp32

Sounds great! Don't worry, I'm a noob too. We can learn together!

oppy00

How close is Asheville to "The Dragon" or just any really good mountain roads?

If you've got a couch I can crash on or are willing to split motel/campsite costs I may be able to make that trip in the spring/summer or '06, Hell I could skip Thanksgiving for it (might be a tit nipply though).

about 10 minutes...

It really is. The Blue Ridge Parkway passes right thru Asheville. I can hop on right next to my house. That goes right to Smoky Mt. National Park. I think that's a pretty awesome, scenic drive. Besides that, there are innumerable country roads and highways through the mountains. Some extremely 'twisty'. I think the 'Dragon' is over by Smoky Mt. Nat. Pk. as well, although I have not been yet. If your ever in the mood to come up just shoot me a PM. If you've never been to Asheville you're in for a treat. Really cool place. Oh, and Asheville is 'in' the mountains.

last summer i rode all the way down the blue ridge from roanoke to the smokys. then, to the dragon. awesome ride all the way.

asheville to the dragon is 100 miles. i would ride to dragon every weekend if i were living in asheville.
My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

I hope you are serious about that invite, cause I'll seriously be up there this summer, if class and graduation don't interfere too much.

If I'm at the Dragon next summer, I will definitely be down for a ride.

We should try to set a date, and try to have a southeast GS rally.  I know things like this have been talked about before, but it would be a crap-ton of fun to get a dozen or more of us together for a weekend of riding and post-ride drinking.

Sounds good but I sold my GS and I now have a SV650. Hope you won't hold it against me though! ;)

oppy00

Well as long as you don't think you're too cool to ride with a loser like me, on my busted-ass, air-cooled, no HP, little GS.

Ha! I'm sure your you can easily show me a thing or three about riding. I'm just a noob. I just wanted an SV from the start. It's my 'dream' bike. I decided to bite the bullet and buy one even though I should really still be riding my old 'busted-ass' GS at my skill level. Heck, I'm sure you could outride me if I was on a CBR or any of those other fancy bikes out there. LOL. Oh, here's a pic of the new ride....

I tried the SV board but I like this one better. Hope you guys don't mind. Even though I only had a GS for about a month. :)

pslamp32

Hey oppy00, Do you go to a satellite of Georgia State? Is that what GSU stands for? I lived in Atlanta in the early '90s and had some friends go there. I graduated from Emory in '96. Just wondrin'.

let us think about that for a while... :)

the svrider forum ain't that bad...i used to hang out there.

No it's cool. It's just that it seems that most people over there get heavily into the 'sportbike\racer' vibe. I'm just a chill guy who just loves to ride. Slow or fast, doesn't matter. I just happen to love the way the SV looks.  :) It's why I still check out the Rebel forum occasionally. That was my first bike and those guys/gals were way cool. Just loved the bike, didn't matter that it wasn't exactly 'cool'.

oppy00

:x GSU = Georgia Southern University :x   GET IT RIGHT FOLKS! :x   Georgia State is too crappy to even have a football team!  We've got 6 National Championships (Division I-AA).  All you Damn Yankees from Atlanta need to wake up and smell the cotton, and get out into GA some. :x

Now that the rant is over,  That is one purty SV. :thumb:   I've never seen one with that color scheme.  I understand the attraction, I've got a bit of a hard-on for the big SVS.  I'd like to make it into a sport-tourer w/ bar-risers, and Givi hard bags.  Well I'm off to class.
