rear brake hits flange

just installed my wileyco and the rear brake rests right ontop of the flange and doesnt actuate at all. Any ideas or soloutions? I've tried twisting it around but then the bracket is too low.

OK, I guess the only question I can ask you is, do you really NEED the rear brake? :lol:

no one else have that problem....so your angle must be off...just rotate it and play around with it till you find the right spot...

Maybe you could snap a picture of your installation and a guru can assist you in letting you know what you did wrong and how to fix it

I had to do some fine tuning on mine to get it away from the brake.   Twist and wiggle.

Yea twist and wiggle ... and shove and yank and curse ...
The new GS'es limit where you can cut the pipe, older you can cut it longer and have the can sit a shade further back. If you have trouble and cannot fit it ... well You can leave it further back and have a muffler shop tack it. I can make you a slipper that might let you locate it further back too, but see what it does after you shove and wiggle it ...

OK there has been 2 people of late that have flanges that are being modded by me or them to fit a newer GS. What you'd have to do is - Cut 2-3 inches into the larger section of the header. The flange has to then be slipped over that. The smaller dia on the pipe in front might not be enough to seal it good. I can PM ya ... just dont have my shipping log at this time. But its for those that are still waiting or have just got the flanges ... Flange says old or mine or points out too much or some like that.

I'd like to say yea I save the best stuff for you R'gal ... but honestly ... each bike is a shade different, I made them all to an average, but being a bit off here and there is very common and hell the flanges are pretty well across the spectrum as well ... so its a freak chance that you have a bike that's off at one extreme one way, and the flange is off at the other extreme ... and it doesn't fit ... very very rare ... but happens, usually the closer to average bike and closer to average flange all fall into place just perfect ... so your experience is the majority. He may have been fine had he got any other flange (maybe) and he'd have been fine if it was any other bike - maybe ... whatever ... Unlucky lets say ... but we'll have it sorted out one way or another.

OK now I have a little more space but when I do the bracket up tight when i hit the brake hard it still hits. I have been up working on it all night and im running out of patience and options. I'm thinking pull it off heat the flange with a torch and whack it with a hammer to give little extra space for the rear brake and then repaint it.

OK that bracket has given trouble to quite a few, the hole is so tight to the can, the can will hit the footpeg if you bolt it on ... That bolt hole had to be slotted extra in some cases ...

You may be able to bend it with a pipe and a vise ... I also bend it a bit if needed on the bike ... depends on how much ... dont want to put too much stress on it, but the stress wont hurt the bike as long as you are just shoving a about a shade, the header pipes will bend in and out wihtout hurting the head. Heck in every crash the header will get shoved into the swingarm ... We pick it up, shove it back into place and ride on ... its fine ...  :mrgreen:  ...
