Hi,

Just found this site. I really like all the info that is here. Thanks in advance for answering my Q's!

I have picked up a 99 gs w/ 12000 on the odo.  It had been 11 yrs since I have been on a gs. I am having a blast.

First q from me is short; Does anyone else have a front fender that is melted toward the back? I imagine the exhaust  has caused it, but what do I do to prevent it from happening to my new fender when it gets put on?

Thanks

hi, welcome to the circus. the fender thing, rejet the bike so your not running as lean and you won't have fender melting issues.

Well, proper carb jetting will help the engine run cooler; don't let the bike idle / overheat while you're not moving, and be sure to turn the back of the fender as far away from the exhaust headers as you can when you park the thing, so the heat-soak process doesn't ruin the new fender.

I imagine other members will have better suggestions...

Glad you found us; pull up a chair and stay a while; it looks like I just scared someone else away...
