Hello... just wanted to say hello and point out some reasoning for my being here.... Well.. I am a die hard Yamaha fan.. not much for Suzuki's but I have a riding buddie that is a big Suzuki fan.. but hes been into cruisers till about 4 days ago I took him to Ilion Gorge and the Suzuki dealer out there.. he loved turning the twisties on his 83 GS-650GL but he saw how much fun I was having on my YZF.. so I took him to the shop (after getting him to test ride my YZF and admitting he had fun on a sportbike) and got him to sit on all the sportbikes they had up there.. the only one he liked.. the GS500F.. but he really doesnt like the front plastics.. so we are going to start saving up some money and looking for a used GS500E (that is the one with the street fighter look right??) for him.. and I figured since he doesnt have a computer.. I would sign up so when we had questions.. or needed info.. I thought this would be a good place to look.. you came recommended from the YZF site I frequent.. Anyway.. just thought I'd say hi.. and ask if anyone knew of a GS500E for sale in the Binghamton NY area somewhere? We'd drive out to Albany or PA for the right bike.. we got a couple weeks to wait anyway to save up a grand or two.. and a blown up or wrecked bike is no problem as we are halfway decent mech.. as long as the title is clear  :thumb:

welcome to the board. Definitely check the forsale section here for any local bikes.  You can also check http://www.craigslist.org/about/cities.html for local bikes.  I personally got mine off of ebay a couple years ago.  There's lots of helpful people here when you do find a bike.

JakeD-getting your nipple pierced is not crazy. Killing a drifter to get an errection? Now that's crazy!

Glad you found us; most of the people who post here are incredibly helpful (I'm the notorious exception :)), and you won't find a better GS500 forum on the 'net.

Good luck finding your friend his own GSFive; as jake42 indicated, there are plenty of good ones that pop up on the For Sale section  http://gstwins.com/forum/index.php , so keep your eyes peeled, and I'm sure you'll find something suitable.

Gee, your friend's ride is an ideal candidate for a streetfighter project.  No hacksaw required, just bars and rearsets from an expired GS650E model.  Just an option to consider.   :thumb:

yeah.. but he wants something newer too.. he's starting to have issues with the tranny.. so he wants something he can rely on as it's his only form of transportation... as is mine.. we like to go for distance rides but can't right now because we worry about him losing his tranny 200 miles from home.. Im just glad I turned him away from a hardly dieslson 8)
