...an audio file of what either their cam end play AND/OR loose cam chain (due to tensioner) sounds like and post it up here?  I know it might help me pinpoint my engine noise, and with so many posts on the topic, it might help others too.

:) Just seen your post  Heent and Im with you on that one. There is a thread somewhere (that I now cant find) that had  a recording sadly I couldnt down load it.
So come on you technical wizards out there help your fellow man  and Ill send you a Christmas card, honest.

Seriously if its possible it would be of great help to many on this site.

I appreciate you folks posting, even if only to let me know someone's tried to post the noise I'm after already.  I wasn't able to find that thread before, but I've listened to/watched the vid now.  That noise really doesn't seem like mine.  Similarly, mine is only noticeable at idle; however, it's more like an old telephone ringing, with about the same period (every second or maybe a slightly faster tempo) and kind of that "brrring.....brrring" sound to it.

Smiley does the soundtrack from that vid sound like your noise?

I'll have to try to get a recording of mine up somehow...this really makes me think I have a loose cam chain tensioner rather than cam endplay.

Hi there, yeah thanks guys but that isnt mine iether.  Mine I can hear at idle but it isnt a ring its more of a  kedank......kerdank......kerdank. very regular  like a clock and very loud.  (But not all the time. )I can hear it with a full face helmet on and Im as deaf as a post. I tried recording mine but I dont have the proper equipment so  if you could get yours on the site Heent it would be a great  help. The only time Ive had a ring ring like that was piston trouble.   I took mine to a dealers, 4 hour round trip, a while back and guess what, nothing not a peep. felt a complete duck head, but the ride was nice.

One mechanic who heard mine diod say for him it was cam chain slap.
