Question about V&H Replacement Canister

Had a friend drop my bike and scratch up my V&H canister.  The piping itself is perfect.  I could make him replace the entire system for $300, but just the replacement canister is only $30...

Has anyone purchased just this canister before?  Does it need to be welded onto my existing piping?  Or does it come w/ the slip fitting, so I just need to unslip my old can, and slip this one on?

Thanks!

so the canister is riveted onto the pipe?  I'll have to go take a look and see.  I was hoping it came with the slipon pipe doh

nope, you get the aluminum sleeve and that's it - you have to drill out the rivets and pull out the billet end cap, packing, and baffle, then pull the can off the pipe and replace it.  It's a pain, especially if you don't drill the rivets dead center.

Curious where you are getting a replacement sleeve for $30?  :dunno:
Common sense in not very common.

bikebandit.com  thanks for the response!  I guess I'll get the dood to buy me the entire system so it'll be easier on me.  FYI: Never let anyone on your bike but you!  :guns:
