Okay. I'll bite.  What's the whole story?  The switch to a true sportsbike (posture, power, insurance) can't be explained with a comment about "knees".  There can't be more leg room on the GSX-R?

(My butt doesn't like the seat, but that's not enough for me to go bike shopping, not that that it restricts it either.  ;) ) At least one curious GS500 owner wants to know...

PS. Yea, speaking about butts, what's up with the missing seat on the R600?

PPS. Thanks for the great pics.  You have an eye for it.  Could give Kevin Wing a run for his job...

Nice bike.  They don't offer the red in Canada.. only the blue, black or yellow.

I'm guessing that the 32.5 inch seat (nearly an inch more than a stock GS), just doesn't agree with your inseam.  Will shaving the already unsupportive seat be enough, or will you need to fiddle with the suspension?

Enjoy the new bike!

Roadstergal

OK, for both...

No, I got the Breva as my commuter.  Nice, upright, easy-on-knees stance.  The GSX-R is going to be a dedicated track bike, and will only see some weekend use in that service.

I took the cover and foam off of the seat and painted the pan with bedliner.  Screw $100 to cut the seat for this purpose.  :p  My feet touch the ground, and it feels fine.

Having bad knees myself, I can empathize.  But of the smaller bikes I tried on, the GS500 was the roomiest standard for my 6'4" frame -- never sat on a Breva though.  (I'll have to visit that booth at the next Bike show in Detroit.)

I have to say you've cleaned up your bike stable with the swap.  You must really look boss with new leathers and a bike goes like a bat outta hell of the same color.   It's obvious you're on a mission.  :)

I look forward to following your racing career on SPEED TV.   :thumb:   Watch out Tommy Hayden ...  :)

I'm gonna miss the great pictures of the yellow GS  :(

Sweet new bike though.... do you get hosed for insurance on race bikes like we do in the great white north?

No insurance required in WA.  I have it on the commuter, but this one is uninsured.  I'm going to transform it muchly from stock anyway, though.  I think it will become much less of a theft target in another week and a half. :)

That is probably enough to get Daneilah to apply for a U.S. work visa.  ;)

Neither can I!  The parts arrived yesterday, much sooner than I expected.

Beats the crap out of me - I got it just after the break-in service, when the guy decided a 600 didn't have enough power for him, and got a 1000.     More than a grand off of basically a new bike...

ajgs500

So when are you getting the 1000
Nice bike though!!!

Like a cheap used GS.    Well, I'll see if the ergos are as much better on the pre-'01 as I remember, or if I just have rosy memories.  Maybe it'll be my commuter and I can save on gas and insurance.

It will be red.  There's a BMW limited color called Ruby II.
