Hey guys...now that summer is almost over and I worked and slept through it...I was wondering what do you all plan on doing in the fall? AND did you do anything exciting this summer?  The Carlisle, PA trip was the big highlight of this summer with me.  I hope that even more of us can get together next year b/c it was really fun.  I plan on riding during those cool fall nights that are coming up as much as possible.  I will be done with college in December, then I'll be ready to get out there and get a real full-time job making the big bucks!  So hopefully by Christmas my adult life we be on track...I just can't believe I'm about to start my last year of college ever!

Rich, we'll miss you, and never forget you. <3

I'm going into second year of engineering at UVM, I'm not yet seeing the light at the end of the tunner haha. My goal is to get another 4.0 and get the UVM motorcycle club off the ground, the buggers don't want to actually ride.

I don't think riding season really stops here in SoCal. It might just slow down a little bit, but I definitely can't see myself packing away the GS and waiting until next spring. :thumb:

On the contrary. Spring in SoCal brought out all the squids-and all the extra police enforcement in the canyons. I'm looking forward to fall and winter again to ride much harder and more often in the canyons like I did before. One thing I have to remember to do is reconnect my heated grips-I accidentally pulled a wire swapping the bike over to track livery.

Riding season only stops for me the 3 weeks it rains here.

I'm moving to San Diego this weekend, and going to my 2nd year of incredibly cheap jr. college.  I'll be taking the GS with me, my guitars, and hopefully joining or starting a stoner rock band.  I'm going to try to save for a surfboard and a beach cruiser bicycle, but I'll probably be living too far inland for a couple years for that to be very practical.  Looking forward to finding some good roads to terrorize as it's sort of a drive to hit up the ACH, but very do-able.  I did find a very good road going due east of Castaic Lake, I'll have to find it on a map and be a bit more specific.

that would be Lake Hughes Rd. One of my favorites! We usually take Little Tujunga from the valley side, up sand canyon and bouquet canyon (good road) to spunky canyon to san francisquito cyn to lake hughes road. there's a good biker restaurant/hangout on Lake Huges called Harley's Rock Inn. We usually plan on using that as a turnaround point, having breakfast there. Their Hobo Breakfast is huge and delish!

I had a really good Summer. The Carlisle trip was also probably the main highlight for me too. My girlfriend and I also went to Six Flags for a few days camping, that was excellent too. I did a few other little things here and there. I went to the Sterling Renaissance Festival, Woodstock, more camping, and lots of little day trips around NY, some of them on the bike. Took quite a bit of time off from work to spend with friends and family, and my girlfriend. It was a satisfying Summer.  :thumb: I am sad to see it on it's way out but I am happy I made the best of it!

I'm not sure what is in store for me this fall/winter. I'll probably ride the GS until around Thanksgiving time or early December (depending on snow, ice, and salty roads!) and then put it away like I did last year and bring it back out early in the Spring. While it's hibernating, I think I might give the GS a thorough mechanical inspection and maybe do a few mods on it, just to give me the chance to tinker with it. I'll probably miss it if I don't :)
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

i would love to ride Mt Rainier on my bike.  But being that I am in VA I don't make it that far west yet.  My first season has been great, learned a lot and will be riding a lot more in my future, hopefully.

I spent the entire summer remodeling my house and neglecting the GS, which had to sit outside through sun and rain and hail because my garage is full of stuff.

Here's some of my house mods.
26X10 roof over back patio
ceiling fans put in to make it feel tropical.
complete kitchen remodel. I did the floor and wiring and let the contractors hang cabinets and do the plumbing.
Basement remodeled into a game room..not done yet, still needs mudded and floor tiled.
Made a second patio 10X20 which has gravel and a two inch layer of sand and is waiting on the flagstones.
Bought new living room and dining room furniture.
Oh and just finished rewiring the basement.

Bike mods.
new superbike bars
new grips.
sometimes i remember to ride it.
