What secondary color is generated by mixing the two primary colors Red and Blue???? (hint uhhh I think it's your favorite color)????? Bonus points if you can tell the difference between primary and secondary colors. More bonus points if you can give a definition of color which explains how humans see color.

Well....believe it or not, BLUE is my favourite colour. I just like PURPLE GS's!!!    Yes, I know the difference between primary and secondary colours. And...I have hazel eyes, so I see hazel...unless I'm mad, then I see green....when I'm envious, I see purple...how many bonus points so far?? And can I open Photochop to explain additive and subtractive color schemes???

Sorry to bore the true geeks out there, but this mnemonic will give you the first 10 digits of pi (sorry; you just have to remember the 3's):

Stopped, put the kickstand down, but not all the way, leaned off the bike, thing fell while I had one foot in the air, I didn't have a chance to save it.  At least I was able to pick it up again after - heavy!

Lesson learned, broke the left mirror and clutch lever.  Some oil somehow got out too.  Hopefully that's what's supposed to happen, I've topped it off again.

James, are you feeling better with all these soul-bearing posts in response to your drop?

Additive is the traditional pigment color scheme - start with primary colors, mix to get secondary.  In this scheme, white is the absence of color and black is saturation of all.

Subtractive is what actually happens when we see color.  In that, white light has all frequencies that we can see.  A pigment will absorb some of them (subtracting them from the spectrum), and only reflect a subset of the wavelengths, yielding color.  In this scheme, white is the saturation of all colors and black is the absence of color.  Subtractive refers to what's actually going on with the light; additive is a convenience for painters.

I think they could use your intelligence down there in New Orleans right now.  What do you know about levee's??

Did appreciate the responses.  Found the story about falling over while being recorded hilarious

PI stuff's not so scary.  I'm doing summer work now as a research student doing hardware and software programming for a 3d volume laser microscope.   :)

    Still dropped my bike though...

Okay so the only way I think of color is the subtractive paradigm because that's what really happens when we see color. White is the presence of all colors and black is presence of no color. Mathmatically, a surface that is white reflects all colors (all color wavelengths) equally and black absorbs all color wavelengths and does not reflect any. Never thought about it the other way around? Thanks for the info though.

GSJames, sorry if I caused the topic to wonder. Hardware and software programming sounds cool! A 3D volume laser microscope what would one do with that? Generate 3D images of structures from the outside in? Also, what portion of the hardware are you working on, and are you writing custom software to run the microscope and generate/store/show the images?

    Pandy,
How's the weather down in San Jo? I'm comming down to Salinas this weekend to visit one of my buddies from college. We were hoping to go to Great America one of the days (Sat/Sun) and I just wanted to make sure it was not raining.

Bwahaha!! No rain in the forecast (I could only WISH!!). It's been too hot for my taste: around 90. The forecast is for mid 80's. If you like it warm and dry, this should be a great weekend for ya'! :)  And have a great time at GA! Rollercoasters RAWK!!!

I usually dislike weather warmer then 75 degrees. I'm hoping to hit the beach though to cool down, and of course GA for fun. I went to GA twice before, the last time was about 9 years ago so I'm hoping that they have some cool new coasters. Last time Top Gun was my favorite, with Vortex comming a close second.

Additive color makes sense when you've got a dark surface and are shining different colored lights on it.  Or if you're lighting up a dark surface some other way, like your monitor, which additively combines red, green, and blue.
