They have supper traps for these bikes?  I would think tunable would be better, but I've never touched one of these bike either.

65 in a 60, speedo error, radar calibration, got the wrong vehicle.  They don't even think about giving a ticket like that here.  Sounds like you need to get some gift certificates to dunkin doughnuts. :)  :)

I make GS exhausts as a side hobby.  Right now I have two done.  One is a Supertrapp slip on with the stock GS header.  I run it open (no disks) with a K&N and dialed in carbs.  I also made up a Wileyco using my own flange and the exhaust retains the stock center stand bumper.  IMO (in my opinion) the Supertrapp sounds better than the Wileyco but it's also really loud whereas the Wileyco is neighbor-safe.  There's also some flow to be found with a die grinder in the stock header.

Did you buy the guy's Yosh or pass on it?

I'm gonna pass. I have to focus on selling my car and crap, and it would just sit if I bought it now. I may be contacting you, Senor Pinto, in the near future for a new exhaust. By the way, if either of them sound like a fart can from a riced-out Civic, I'll pass  ;)

I'm sitting down to decide what I want to plead when I send in the ticket. OK, here's the deal: I was going 71, and he said that, but he ticketed me at 65. Which is nice, but a warning would have been nicer. So I was speeding, we both know that. However, it was only to pass, as I was cruising at 65 before and after the pass. So, my options are to either plead guilty but get a chance to explain myself, which could lead to getting the fine reduced; or tempt the hands of fate and plead not guilty, where I have a hearing and request the officer to attend. I could fight it and pray that he doesn't show up or shows up without sufficient evidence. What do I do.

His setup was like this: he was a biker cop standing behind his bike with no gun. There was a cop car behind him that may or may not have had the gun and then told the biker farktard who to pull over. I have no idea how he determined I was speeding (I have a big mouth, so I kept it shut there in order to not double my ticket). So what do you guys think? Fight it full-on or admit guilt but try to talk it down?  :dunno:

Do a search on here for the sound bytes.  The GS sounds like a bada$$ big twin if you put a good exhaust on it.  Mine turns heads wherever I go.

OK, so far I have 0 votes for admit guilt and try getting the fine reduced and 0 for pleading not guilty and praying for a miracle.

Close race!

get any pipe, for any reason, and make it fit.
The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

ya did the "crime", now pay the fine  ,
Really, your not likel'y to get it reduced unless you REALLY want to fight it all out with a lawyer and all that goes with that, contesting the calibration of the radar, training of the officer, subpoenas for a number of previous citations and all kinds of other things. Not usually worth it IMHO.

I don't know the laws in OR-EEEEE-GONE, but in WA you can get the fine reduced really easily...

In fact...  They have a deal here where you can get the ticket removed from your record if you pay a fine and don't get another ticket within a year.

I got it in the 'Couv. I wasn't offered that option. However, I had a ticket last New Year's Eve and took a class and had it removed. I wonder if I'm out of luck this time; the prior ticket was in Hills-Barrio, so maybe I am out of their jurisdiction. Who knows. I may just contest that I was only passing and had the CC on between 60-65 right before and after the pass. I'll pray that officer Fark Face doesn't show, and hopefully get off Scot-free. Hmmm... :dunno:

It's a gamble to get the cop to come in...

Have you talked to a traffic lawyer?  It might be worth the money.  A friend of mine has an M3 and doesn't know how to drive slow.  He's had about 10 tickets taken care of by his lawyer. :dunno:

The ticket's only $71 and it'll be my first ding on my driving record, so I'm not so sure that the expense of a lawyer would be worth it. How much could that possibly be?

I dunno... Not much i think.

But, it's not the cost of the ticket, it's the cost of the insurance increase.

If it won't change your insurance, then just pay it and watch your speed a little more.

You are going to have a hard time beating that.  I had a lawyer bring his computer into my shop awhile back & he said he would rather defend a murder case than try to defend in traffic.  Most cops write far more speeding tickets than murder arrests, they are REALLY good at getting everything right to get a conviction in traffic.  But if you got money to burn

I think I'm just gonna plead not guilty and explain that I was passing, and only at that time was I possibly going over the speed limit. The worst they can do is deny me and keep the fine at $71, right?

Mabe he'll let you go to driving school, they wouldn't even let me do that last time, so I paid the fine.

aevans17

If you already got 1 free be last year then you can't get another one for 7 years. The rule is they will suspend the ticket for 1 calendar year and if you don't get anymore tickets in that time then the 1st ticket goes off your record. However, if you do get a ticket then it goes back on. Also you are not eligible for the same process for 7 years. I would suggest admitting guilt and then going to talk to a judge. Around here that means that you go see some judge for 5 seconds and they usually just cut your fine in half no matter what. The last time I went the judge was in this tinny room sitting behind a school desk. I sat in a another school desk in front of her and she talked to me for 2 minutes tops. She told me to slow down and reduced the fine by 1/2.
If you go to court and say that you had CC set between 60-65 and admit that you sped up to pass then you are admitting to speeding and the judge will probablly say that you are guilty. Also check your ticket to see if the officer wrote your actual speed, but only changed the fine to $71 which is the penalty for 5 over. Sometimes cops write the tickets so that it shows exactly what you were going even though they reduced the fine. If this is the case, then you will have less of a chance of beating a conviction because the judge will see that you were going 11 over and not 5. If not then you have a great chance of winning because 5 over is nothing. Then the speeding up to pass story sounds a whole lot better.

By the way, below the vehicle speed, there are the following notations (I have no idea what they mean...)

OK Cop not comming in - yea not likely at all. The court date is for when he will be there. Every ticket he issues that day and for a few days before and after, have that same court date. Ask for postponing it and they will give you another specific date. try to move it 1-2 days and you'll know its impossible. BTW the preliminary hearings are always on friday around here. No cops need to be there, The ADA's will plead you out and they dont care about the fine, Fines will drop from 75 or 50 to 25 easy. They are after collecting that $100 "Court Costs" ... Total scam to line their county's coffers.
