I've heard of a small sound system stuck into a Vespa but has anyone ever seen it on a bike? Just curious.

On bikes like Goldwings. You can buy head sets that allow you to talk to each other and pipe into the radio on the bike. For us it's just an MP3 player.

i've seen  few harleys with mean sound systems stuck to their gas tanks, might be worth a look.
The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

bmw made a detachable all in one sound system for their little f650cs bike. it would mount in a storage bay type deal on the tank. be cool to find one of those and figure out how to mount it and wire it up.

Sell the GS and buy a scooter... you can stick a huge subwoofer in the underseat storage area.  BOOM-BOOM!

Oh, and remember the neon and the spinner etc :?... BOOM-BOOM...

The one I saw showcased on the net was just aportable CD player hooked up to flat panel speakers and a larger battery, didn't really look like it fit the bike, the speakers were just hanging off some brackets on the rear, but it'd be pretty friggin cool to have on a meet night.

I work for a speaker manufacturer in Vancouver (WA, not BC), and we make a few models of battery-powered speakers for MP3 players. One that is out now and is cheap is this one:

You could easily hook that up to an MP3 player and stash it under your seat and have the speaker sitting on the seat or something. Just an idear. I could probably get some for a good deal.

Thats exactly what I mean, if you could build a pair of those into the rear fairing and have an MP3 player built in somewhere that'd be pretty friggin cool!

We could no doubt get something going. I'll take one of those home tonight and use it as a prototype. I'm thinking mounted under the seat and you could remove it to bump. Yes? No? I'm Dave Cummings?

Make a holder under there for the MP3 player, and you could run headphones in there and wear them under the helmet on long rides where hearing isn't as important as on a crowded city street or highway.

By the way, I call copyright, don't bite.  ;)

I've seen a busa that was cranking out some tunes... I didn't bother to take a closer look but it belongs to a friend of a guy I work with. He was talking about hooking something up on his TL this winter...

I'm taking home a set of those speakers tonight and I'll work on putting something together.

I'm thinking the sound system could be used personally through headphones, maybe an extension that works its way up to the handle bars so you can plug in your phones there as well as a pair of speakers for when you're just out cruisin and want to have some music playing for you and everybody around you  :)

Yah, I just use my MP3 player to one ear. I really don't like it when people blare their music with all their windows open. And with them leaning all back barely looking over the steering wheel. It just looks stupid. When ever I see someone like that I just stare and shake my head. :nono:
I have a Creative Labs Zen Micro. That thing is great. 5GB MP3 player, recorder, FM tuner, to do list, calender, ect. And it fits in the palm of your hand.  :thumb:

OK, so I went out back tonight and tried to fit that speaker system into the underside of the seat. It was like .05 inches too wide to fit into the tool area down there. I think we have another model in stock that is slightly slimmer, and I'll try to grab one tomorrow. Fark, it would have been perfect, too. I hope the other one fits.

I beg to differ!

All plugged into a Starcom1 Intercom, gave me radio, phone, GPS, bike to bike and rider-pillion.  A year, 16,000 miles (inc a 2,500 miles 2 week tour of France) and I decided I really needed a bigger, more touring orientated machine and got a BMW K100.  Still that lil GS rocked for adaptability!
