anything to increase gas mileage?

let me start off by saying i'm a poor college student so spending unholy amounts of money on my bike (like 100.00 or more) most likely wont happen.  I was wondering if there is anything that can increase the gas mielage of my bike, in this time of petro-terrorism.  A few ideas I had include, upgrading or replacing Spark plugs and wires, air filter, sprocket sizes and the not so likely upgrading of the exhaust.  I know this website has an abundance of people who have a plethora of info. about these motorcycles so your suggestions and comments about brand names and procedures would be greately appreciated.
