I am looking for a new set of grips.....on the lockhart-phylips site it asks what size do I want....I am assuming it's the lenth of the inner cavity...the grips in question are Galindo Pro Superbike Grips...
would i want 125mm or 135mm?  I thought i saw somewhere that I would need something 4.5" long (which is like 114mm)...I want to get a right size since it seems that these can't be cut to fit
also, after doing a bit of searching, it seems like no aftermarket grip fits as well as stock....is there grips that fit better then the other?  I am also going to try to find katana grips (as far as i understood from '88 or so)

120 mm (open end) will fit perfectly. some of the "closed end" ones are 125 mm. you don't want anything longer.

also, there's something very important you have to consider to get a perfect fit. this is kind of hard to explain...on the throttle side of the grip, the lip (fat part) of the grip need to be contoured correctly to cover the (fat part) of throttle body. without it, you'll end up with about 1/4 inch of throttle body exposed. doesn't look right.

progrip 719 has that contour. some of other that i've gotten or seen doesn't have that.
My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

JetSwing has it right; many GS riders use the ProGrip 719s. They are gel grips, so they're comfortable, and help to reduce any vibration from numbing your hands. They fit as well or even better than any others I've tried.

Click on this link to see the Gel ProGrips in more details, including different colors.

Wait a sec there ... hold your credit card ... The GS throttle grip has the funny positive engagement ridges and the flared whatchmacallit things. You put generic grips on and they will stick out and look like sheite ... you really want to get Katana grips or somethign that is suzuki specific. I usually swap the whole grip and tube on the throttle side with a Katana or old GSXR type. And of course the left side to match. AKA go to a wrecking yard and buy that.
Cool.

OK...  Sorry...  Jeeze!

Are they any thicker than the OEM grips?  I don't need new grips, but after riding my sister's cruiser, I REALLY want thicker grips.

davipu

i put some cheep mountian bike grips on mine, the rubber isn't really thicker but it's of a softer compound so adzorbes more vibrations

RVertigo

I want thicker ones 'cause they're easier to grip without the DEATH-GRIP.

davipu

the mtb ones have little nubs all over them which makes them really easy to grip.
