Actually I think it is a track-only bike. Doesn't look street legal.

...haha   Yup, I'm an ass.

Aprilia RS50.  You can get a 75cc kit.  They don't sell it over here anymore, but they sold it up to 2003, so there are a lot kicking around.  They will REALLY teach you to stay in the powerband.

There's a stock 50 at Aurora Suzuki right now.

Oh MOMMA! Any of you'uns ever seen the CBR250? Freakin SWEET.
http://bikepics.com/honda/cbr250/03/pics.asp Course, we don't get it here. sucks.

Get a KLR250 and motard it. One guy on BayAreaRidersForum.com made a motard out of a Yamaha XT225. And, I've seen a lowered Honda XR400 street mortard.

Well...  My whole idea was to check out newer small bikes...

My commute just got really damn short.  It's under 2 miles now...  But, it still involves going 60 MPH. :dunno:

People might say that I should walk it...  Which is an option for people that don't have bunk knees.  Walking up hill makes my RPPS come back.  Plus, I'm kinda lazy...

Riding a bicycle may be an option...  I haven't ridden in a long time, so I'm not sure if it would mess with my knees...  Plus I'd like to be able to still go 60 (if possible)...

So...  That's why I was thinking about something around 250...  The problem is that I hate cruisers and I hate plastic "crotch rocket" looking bikes.

Also...  Since my commute is so friggen short, I wanted a FI bike so the warm-up time would be short...  Rather than warming up for 2-4 minutes and driving for 5 minutes.

I was thinking about a damn scooter...  But, I'd much rather have something cool. :dunno:

A 2-mile commute will be bad for any internal combustion engine.  Short trips are considered the highest stress for an engine - worse than tracking.

Bicycle.  Talk to a physical therapist if you're worried about your knees.  But I have bad knees, and bicycling doesn't bother them.  Just make sure you get a bike that fits.

Bicycles rock.  I have a Trek mountain bike.  If I didn't spend so damn much on motorcycles, I'd have one of these.

RVertigo

Well...  2-3 days a week, I'll have to ride to work anyway 'cause I have practice...  and that's about 5 miles from here.  No friggen way I'm riding a bicycle home 7 miles at 11:00 at night...

I have a Cat's Eye LED headlight and a taillight.  The headlight is goddam bright!

RVertigo

Maybe an electric motor bicycle for the other days...  Hmm...

I see a Monster Garage project! A 60mph riding lawnmower!

Or, just get a skateboard, attach an 8 foot bamboo pole to the front, tie a bedsheet to the top and bottom, and use a leafblower.

One of those little electric pocket bikes. ;)

Seriously, for something that short, electric is the way to go.  Don't they make midsize electric bikes that can be street-legalized?

RVertigo

You know... I dunno...  I found a site that has add-on motors for regular mountain bikes...  They said you could get hoppin' pretty damn fast with 'em.  heh.

And H-D isn't about to make a small-displacement bike (insert compensation comment).
. actually they do . it called a "buell blast"

Old Mr. Wilson

A Buell Blast should NEVER be mentioned/considered, let alone purchased. The only worse machine you could buy maybe would be a Royal Enfield. Maybe. Both are wholly and totally unreliable. The Enfields are kinda cool looking though! It's just that if you are looking to get somewhere AND BACK, don't consider these! That Buell 500 shakes like a dog shitting persimmon seeds as well. Hope this helps, Wilson
Taxes are Good. Millions that have been on Welfare for the last 30 years are depending on you. Also Millions that are coming over the border each year are depending on YOU.
Also taxes will fix our shitty schools and roads that have been broken for 40+ years.

You really don't get it do you???

Cal Price

Hi, Wilson.

In town this summer I met a guy with an Enfield he had ridden from the factory gates in India home to England and he's taken it to Germany twice with only a puncture as a proble. I know what you mean some of them are crap. There is an Enfield available now with an Australian "lean burn" engine that has a good reputation. Quite a few of the buyers change the stock tyres and all the control cables on day one and recon that sorts the problem. that's what the guy who bought his from india did.

There are a fair few Enfields about here 350 & 500 but I have never had the pleasure of seeing a Buel Blast, I think we only get the big displacement models here 984cc Lightning City-X and a 1203 lightning along with a 1203 Firebolt XB-12R. They are sold here with the slogan "Harleys that Handle" which is something of a concept.

Oh! and whoever said they needed 60mph, my Honda CG125 could go 0-60 in the time it takes to say it, getting to 65 took another ten mins with a following wind etc but it was the perfect urban machine 100 mpg and 100 kph plus the lowest taxation band, and they look good.
