i did the exhaust mod but never had the time to find a more permanent solution for the centerstand. i had duct taped a water bottle cap to the centerstand to keep it from hitting the chain. been real busy with other things and haven't touched the gs in days, so when do i finally have a chance to fiddle with the centerstand?

i chose to do it at a trackday just before tech inspection  :o

no way will i pass tech with that thing clanking around down there so i took it completely off - here it is in the back of my truck bed...

i took mine off a while back. i think my bike actually looks a little better with out it and i have a centerstand that i can use when i need to do repairs etc.

I took mine off when I touched it down on a bump mid-corner. scared the crap out of me and cracked the exhaust pipe (instead of launching me into tomorrow I suppose).

I kept it though. I got me a long screw and would temporarily replace the stand to do oil changes and chain lubes by inserting the long screw. Then when done I would toss the stand in the closet again.

that sounds like a good idea about the long screw. i got worried i was gonna scrap mine too after i scrapped my left foot peg mid turn one day.

great tip on the long screw  :thumb:

i still retain all the stock parts (ha! even from my '80 kz1000 - which i no longer have).
