Flush-Mounts Opinion

I just went to Cycle Gear and got 3 pairs of front flush-mounts, each with a different mount. The first were some Lockhart Phillips oval ones, and they stuck out and didn't follow the body's lines at all. Next were some MotoBoss ones, cat eye with the black part near the rear and amber up front. Didn't look cool, and were stick-ons (um...no)

Then these, which fit perfectly. They're LP LEDs, and I think they are killer. Agree???:










I've never seen them, and I think they flow pretty well with the bike. And they mount up flush, which is awesome. I just hope they're quality and hold up to washings and rain.

Oh, and did anyone get a chance to check out my how-to on the rear integrator kit? I'm really curious if anyone thought it was done well.

Well...  They go well with the rest of the wacky triangle stuff on the F.  

They pretty bright?  And...   Can cars really see them from the front?  Especially on coming traffic...

The wires are a tad too short to reach the signal wires, so I am going to cut off and use the ones from the stock signals. I hooked it up as a test, and they were pretty bright.

As for oncoming cars seeing them...I don't know. But if a car coming towards you doesn't see your bike to begin with, they probably wouldn't notice your blinkers. I guess...  :dunno:

But I like the looks. I'll post some pics when they're done. And I'm painting the windscreen black as we speak, so I'll also post those pics.

i painted my windscreen and it was a great inexpensive improvement. thanks for the info

I think they look good, but how well can the cars in front of you see them if they are on? Pretty well? Let's see a pic from the front with one on!    Looks good so far though!

I just got done with the windscreen. I peeled the tape back and realized that the top lip was off-centered with the spray. So I layed it at an angle and sprayed it; I think it'll be pretty nice. I will do the signals tomorrow.

It's the home-opener for the Ducks tomorrow; I can't wait to get through the gates.

Hate to burst your bubble, but LED are highly directional.  You would have to mount them on the front of the fairing for them to be visible to any oncoming traffic.  With them mounted where they are, they will only be visible to vehicles next to you.

What? The point of turn signals is not to make other traffic see you! It's to make sure they know you are turning. Yes, they look cool, but what's the point if the only one who can see them is the person next to you. Might as well just take off the stock stalks and use nothing.

not the best picture, but...   I still haven't got around to wiring it up right, right now i've got all 4 lights going on at the same time...

Well I got the front flush-mounts on, the black windscreen, the tail light integrator, and eliminated the rear fender. It looks really nice now. I eliminated all of the fender that was seen when you stand on the side of the bike, but I did it in a way so that it's mostly all still there. I cut off and trimmed down the rear-most part (behind the signal mounting holes, and where the license plate mounts) and I flipped it upside down and remounted it. I taped another piece of plastic between taht and where the cut was on the rest of the fender so that it is nearly one piece. So the area under the seat is all enclosed, so the wiring under there is safe from rocks, debris and water.

I'll take a few pics tomorrow and put them up. My brother looked at it and said that you can see the signals from both front and rear in the daylight, and they're super-visible in the dark. I like the looks now.

The LEDs made all of the lights blink faster. So where the signals would blink slow until you hit the brakes and they sped up, they are always quick now. I'm going to try and figure out how to slow them down later. And I want the rear lights to be brighter in general, so I'm goin to look at other possible bulb/ lens options. I am also going to try and find a way to put a seperator in the signal lens so that there are two chambers, each with one bulb. Then only half of the lens will illuminate when the turn signal is on, rather than the 65% of it that does now.
