how to post an avator

I searched for 'avator' and got back four hits. none of them dealed with what I want.

I would like to know how to post an avator under my name.

Welcome to the board (your opening post snuck by me)!

I host my photos at photobucket.com (it's free). After you upload a picture, they'll offer a web addie that you can plug into your avatar space that's at the bottom of "edit profile."

Dude, it's simple. Go to http://www.imageshack.us and upload a pic. Make sure it SMALL. Otherwise you're going to kill everyone else's bandwidth. Then take the 'link to forums' link and post it in your profile under edit profile --> link to off site avatar.

By the way, it's avat 'a' r , not avator. That may be why you couldn't find anything.

They have to be hosted by another server. As several have noted, //www.photobucket.com is the way to go. Especially if you want to post pics later.

Another option is sending it to Kerry. He has been hosting them for the members for awhile. There used to be a stickied thread about it.
