Ninja faster than the gs 500f??

okay well i know of at least one ninja that is not faster than a gs 500F.
Today i was cruising down good old route 66 with my brother on our new gs 500f's and low and behold just outside of luther oklahoma one of those new 500 ninjas were all hearing so much about on other forums jumps out of an intersection about a mile up the road. Being as it was so for up there i didnt know it was a ninja but none the less i was gaining on him as he saw me in his mirror and tucked and gunned it, now me being one for sport looked back at my bro giving him the old thumbs up/down question witch was returned with another thumb up.... and so it was on. Now im going to catch flak over this being as my bike is new but about 2 min later i was passing this mistery bike wich i had only seen from ther rear with my bro close behind me. As i passed it a look of sheer joy came over my ace as i saw those big black letters NINJA 500, i was so giddy i had forgotten about how fast i was going (110 mph) as this gentle man was tucked and i was, well, cruising. After a brief wave and acceleration past the gentleman i pulled into the next gas station at my exit looked at my brother, and with a smile form ear to ear told him "well guess we just put that gstwin.com question to bed."

Yup, you're going to catch some flak from someone, I am sure. But not me.

Just don't hurt yourself, or anyone else. But anyway, that second that a Ninja 500 might have over the GS 500 isminimal. I mean, think about it, one second? Thats a blink of an eye. A fast reflex vs. a slow reflex. Good for you.

If you're still in break in, don't worry. There are many that believe that running a new motor at high RPM actually breaks them in BETTER than keeping it under 5,000K. But I'd change your oil right now!

Nice work on the Ninja killing! Be careful. Sometimes Ninjas totally flip out!

Actually, I would say they are about the same. I noticed that the KAWI has a bit less power on 2up from the get-go then the GS, but I think that is due to gearing and the suspension. The GS seems to have less go in the top end and really gets thrown around in the wind if there are allot of large gusts. I also noted that I had to give the GS much more rpm off the line even when it was just myself on the bike. I only weigh about 130 (if that) and I am 5'5- 5'7 (license says 5'7 but I think I was wearing my boots) so weight is not at all an issue. The GS did handle better at higher speeds and I did not have to tuck as much, yet the Ninja really DID however feel like it was asking to be pulled more even when I approached 110.

Who really knows though, the speedo could be slightly off on either bike (I have a feeling the GS is off slightly).

What I am getting at, is it is not really what you ride, it is how you ride it. Overall, they are both good bang for your buck bikes and I recommend either.

Yea, but I was counting on that. I am not sure if the ninja is about the same as well though. I know on my ex250 ninja it is WAYYYY off. ( That is partially my bad though, I need to adjust it. Who cares really though? I never use it.. that bike is just a play thing...)

Edit: Wow.. I used "though" in every sentence. What the hell was I thinking.

I am pretty sure ninja will be faster in a 1/4-mile almost all the time....a second is quite a bit

I beat an EX500 at the drag strip (bracket racing). She ran 12.7 and I ran 14.10. I watched her run 12.7's all night (until I put her on the trailer :mrgreen: ) - her bike was very stock so I'd say the EX is about a full second faster than the GS in the 1/4 mile. Yes, that is a lot...roughly 10 car lengths at the finish line.

She sure was mad when she figured out the slowest bike there beat her. She wouldn't even shake my hand.

A second on the track, in a race, is a lot.
A second on the street, in traffic, is not.
While the Ninja bikes might be hot,
I'll stick with the GS because thats what I've got.

ex500 is way faster than gs500, about 10hp difference.....on a 40hp machine that's huge.

thing is.....it's got a lot more to do with rider ability....so doesn't prove anything.
