I got SCREWED!

now that I got your attention...  :P

As I was dismounting this afternoon, I realized that the bike felt lighter, as if something was missing...

A closer inspection revealed an amazing fact: A SCREW on the fairing was GONE!

btw, the last image is an image of the left side with the type of screw I lost.

I was like: DUDE!  :dunno:
The screw came out by itself? too much vibration? (new 05 gs with 2500 miles on it so far).

I checked around and all the other screws seem to be in place. Now... where do I get that screw? at the stealership? or some gum will do? about how much are we talking about$?$?
Caturday yet?

In general, with little things like that, might as well get it at the dealership.  But if you had your 600mi service done there, I'd go make a little noise about their ability to torque down screws (you have to take the fairing off to change the oil) and get one for free.

It's a good idea to check screws and mirrors at every oil change.  IMO.

calamari

hey! that's a good idea. I did had my 600mi service done with the dealership, so I might aswell go and complain about it.

btw, (i do have my service manual), about how often should I change the oil to keep it at top performance? every 2000? 1000?  8)

*ducks and covers for the oil change argument*

*pokes head out*
I do 5K because the math is easy and methinks the oil is still happy at that point.  Some people do it every morning.  Search and you'll find multi-page threads with lots of slanging.

Finally got a good job.  Hooray me!!!

I still love beer.  Hooray me!!!

Yeah, arguing about oil changing intervals is about as useless as parading a three headed badger in a tea cozy in the middle of Moscow Square. (read: pointless in the utmost sense). I change mine every 5000 to 6000 miles because I don't believe the hype that it needs it every 3000. That's just me though.

THIS WILL NOT BE AN OIL CHANGE DEBATE THREAD.

I don't remember taking the fairing off.  But, if the dealership charged you labour for time that was obviously spent taking the fairing off, then by all means, pursue it.

Uhm.. no ya don't. Just be careful with the filter, or you get oil all over the bottoms, but even that cleans up fairly easy ;) and you get all that grease + grime from the road down there anyhow.

Roadstergal

OK, let me rephrase - if you work in a Suzuki service department, taking the fairing off is part of the oil change procedure they tell you to follow.

So what time should we arrive?

BACK IN TOPIC

So I just came back from the stealership.
Result? FREE SCREW    (sounds a bit odd)

But the weird thing was that after I explained the problem and BEFORE i started complaining about how I tought it was their fault and yada yada... the guy offered me a free screw.

Maybe one of the employees is a gstwin user?

I prepared all my rant speech for nothing   :x
